Articles Etteplan releases a first ever global e-learning course on Simplified Technical English

Being the first company in the world to do so, Etteplan has released an e-learning course to train technical writers and subject matter experts on the use of Simplified Technical English (STE), the global standard for writing clear and concise content. The e-learning course is available to companies and freelance writers all over the world. More information on this offering ->

Most of the world’s leading companies have accelerated their digital transformation efforts during the pandemic—efforts that are not slowing down. Content plays a key role in the field of digitalization, as it has an important impact on the customer experience, where good quality content will help grow and create new business and service models, as well as ensure safe product use.

Because of this key role, it is important that global writing teams learn how to write content that is accurate, clear, aligned, and easy to find by their customers. Through STE companies can maximize the value of their enterprise content, whether this is for technical documentation, marketing, or support. Over the past years, Etteplan, with accredited trainers, has trained over 3,200 technical writers in many industries through mostly onsite courses, which are still highly rated.

Now, thanks to Etteplan’s new e-learning course, even more technical writers will be able to further improve their skills and show industry credibility by being able to write in Simplified Technical English. Priced at a more affordable level for individuals as well, writers can go through the course in their own time and from any location, including those that will continue to work from home.

“This e-learning course opens up STE writing not only to companies looking to train their tens to hundreds of technical writers in a very time and cost-effective way, but it also opens up STE writing to tens of thousands of freelancers worldwide, as STE courses were up till now almost always offered for groups only” says Petri Ikonen, SVP Solutions & Technologies at Etteplan.

“This STE e-learning course will help companies align their global workforce with strategic content goals. And we are very proud of the fact that Etteplan is the very first company to offer this”, he continues.

When signing up for the STE e-learning course, participants will receive a free copy of Etteplan’s content checker software HyperSTE for the duration of the course, which will be 2 months. HyperSTE will allow them to check their content in their own authoring environment, whether that would be Word, Framemaker, Arbortext, or any other supported environment, against the writing rules of STE and other style guides.
